Well firstly, don't call your hair ugly. Everyone is unique and has different kinds of hair.
If like you say, your hair is 'dead' or 'damaged' then I recommend using a hair mask to help cement the Split end back in place. Otherwise, as for your hairstyle for school, you could try do a half up and half down style. or even try sleeping in braids and taking them out in the morning, and straightening your hair SLIGHTLY, so that they become beachy waves. Otherwise, buy some pretty barrets and pin the front bit back.
