ruffled petticoats on under the skirts?Do any of you remember the poodle hair styles and poodle skirts with all those?
I sure do. I'm a 50's girl.
We called them crinoline half slips.
I had 3 of them and we would dowse them in thick sugar water and dry them laid out in a circle on the floor.
In those days most of us didn't have the money for starch but we could sneak the sugar, to make them stand out stiff.
I would wear all 3 under my skirt. Some girls wore as many as 5 or 6.
I had 2 felt poodle skirts, 1 black, with a pink poodle and the other was pink with a white poodle.
And don't forget the saddle oxfords.
Now . . . . those were the good old years.
I just loved jitter bugging to Jerry Lee Lewis's, A whole lot of shakin Goin On.
Oh, Yah!Do any of you remember the poodle hair styles and poodle skirts with all those?
yes my mom has one she spoils it all the time, has her all styled up!
oooh i soooooooooo tried to emulate that in the 80s....Really cute! Always longed for a drive up diner with servers on roller skates LOL
Yup, was always trying to peek under them, failed almost every time. sigh!
yes
Ahhhhh, yes, I remember them well.
yes. i do remember them.
what about them?
Oh yeah, girl friend (wife) made hers in FHA (home economics-- for the younger set). Saddle shoes ?
the skirts - yes - but hairstyles no - not unless you mean beehives or bouffants!
Only on television and in the movies. Never had one myself.
Sure do. I remember in bout 56 at a sock hop
I won the door prize and they awarded me with a door.
Yes. I seem to recall a poodle skirt that was grey with a pink poodle on one end and a pink telephone on the other with a pink phone line between the dog and phone. Go figure.
I had a felt poodle skirt with a chain around the poodle's neck! LOL
Also had a patch work quilted skirt and a cordoroy skirt - all wide enough to accommodate my gazillion petticoats....we used to compete to see who could wear the most petticoats! LOL
Yes, they were all the rage when I was in high school back in the 1950s.
No to the hairstyle. Yes to the skirts!!
yeah, like in the movie grease!
I WISH I DID. IM 13 and i want to live back then
No to the hairstyle-had the skirt in Kindergarten. Loved it. Made them for daughters as every year their school had a ';back to the 50's dance'; I can still see them twirling. My petticoat had an inflatable tube running through the hem. You blew it up and it was the size of a hula hoop!!
Oh yeah. That was one of the first skirts I ever got under.
Long live the 1950's!
Sure do, wore them.....never actually had a ';poodle'; skirt (that must have been a so. California or east coast thingie) but had the ';poodle'; haircut - where I lived, we called it the ';Gina Lollabrigida';....
Rolled down bobby socs and white bucks completed the look in my area.
Yes, I remember poodle hair styles, skirts and ruffled petticoats. I grew up in New Orleans and those things were very popular in the 50's. I have naturally curly hair so a poodle cut was great for me. Every Friday night I wore my ruffled petticoat with a circle skirt to the Record Hop. If boys didn't ask us to dance, we danced with each other.
My sister's wore those clothes and they had those ';can-can's'; starched stiff and about 6 of them taking up the whole house. Wore saddle oxfords and pony tails!!!
Yup, I had a poodle skirt with those scratchy slips underneath.
Only from the movies.....and plays....GREASE
